If it's as simple as this, great! Too bad people are going to try to pull this off in a day and not "over time".

I don't exactly like the idea of crate training. I mean, couldn't you just TEACH ur dog not to chew things up and pee everywhere in the house? Dogs need open space so they cane move around and run and be happy. Most dogs I see that are stuck in crates look miserable.

Keep in mind that particularly when dogs are younger they often want to chew on everything so a crate is a great way to prevent them from chewing up something valuable or something that may hurt them. Younger dogs also have less bladder control and if you give them too much freedom before they're house trained they will create potty areas in your house. They're just doing what is natural for them. Introducing your dog to his crate the right way will help ensure he likes his crate.

Raincloud916, I doubt you have owned a dog, or at least one that does have issues with chewing, etc. Crates can be crucial, and can make life better than the cycle of damage/displeasure they get from tearing stuff up.

Some dogs prefer airline carriers, which are more closed in but most of all, they just like having a place of their own where they can feel secure.
Thank You!
