I drove there in 1986 in a VW Golf GTI it was an awesome experience, I have quite a few miles on that piece road. It is not near as easy as it looks on these videos, you have to drive it a while before you can run hard on it, It takes a while to learn the track where to break and gas it for each corner etc. But it is definintly the ultimate driving experience.

He definately knows "tha Ring" and his Lotus like the back of his hand. I believe had it not been for the bikes, slower traffic and the workers he could have tagged a run just under 8 minutes. Any car and driver that can post an under 8 minutes run at the Ring is AWSUM !! Great videos AMTM1980,, Thanks much !!

The carousel is mutch tighter round the edge than the banked section and the camber of the road allows you to pull more g through the corner.

Hey mate great driving. Takes a lot of practice to do a sub 9 minuet(in any car).
is this a standard s1 exige? the dash doesnt resemble that of an s2

That's the proplem with the Nurburg ring... so much traffic.. I'm thinking maybe Thursdays would be the best day to go since the weekenders are at work and the pros are packed up for the weekend races elsewhere. I also can't wait to get down there for a few laps. I just need a proper car for the track.
