Come on anyone who truely believes she earned that win is delusional. The actions on the track spoke for themselves. Castroneves had plenty of fuel and simply backed off to let her by. The IRL needed a huge boost and giving Danica the victory was a simple solution. Pathetic to say the least.

If the IRL needed a huge boost, why would they let Dan Wheldon and two other drivers pass her in the last ten laps of Indy 2005? Did they all miss the memo from headquarters? She had already led for 32 laps in Japan that year and was one of the favorites going into the race. Letting their female star win their big event would have been a simple & lucrative PR solution. Instead, they wait 3 long years and then let her win in far off Japan? Sounds like a PATHETIC conspiracy theory to me.

What would she be if not for affirmative action? If she were a guy she would have lost her great sponsors buy now and would be out of the racing business without a win period. logansGT--great post! But you should have mentioned that affirmative action doesn't apply to open wheel racing. Vitor Meira doesn't have a win but remains fully sponsored, as does more than half the IRL roster. Danica's made more PR appearances than all the other drivers combined and I haven't heard her bitch about anything. As far as respect goes, can you imagine where we'd be if guys like the one below had to go through the pain of childbirth? The human race would have died out long ago.
